Wellbeing Committtee

At Swanwick Primary School, we define wellbeing as,

‘a state of being physically, socially and emotionally cared for’; ‘being comfortable, healthy and happy’; ‘being resilient and able to cope with challenges’.

We have a strong commitment to staff wellbeing. The biggest asset Swanwick Primary has is its staff, so protecting their mental health and wellbeing is of paramount importance. If the school looks after its most valuable resource (the staff), this will in turn benefit the children in school and the local community.

The wellbeing committee, which is comprised of a range of staff within school with a variety of roles and responsibilities, identify ways in which the school can work together to ensure the school is a safe, caring and happy place to work. School staff can speak to any member of the wellbeing committee and every voice will be heard.

The wellbeing committee

Meet the committee members:

The committee meet regularly to discuss ‘big ticket items’ that can have a positive impact on staff wellbeing. After the meetings, minutes are shared and plans and actions are communicated with all staff. The committee was developed so that all staff can have and take ownership of the decisions that affect them directly.

Summer 2024: Communication

In summer, the wellbeing committee's big ticket item was communication. Staff completed a questionnaire, which captured their thoughts on communication and how it could be improved across school. After reviewing staff's responses, the wellbeing committee implemented new guidelines to have a positive impact on wellbeing across school.

Autumn 2024: Workload

In autumn, the wellbeing committee's big ticket item was workload. Staff shared their thoughts with members from the wellbeing committee and offered practical solutions. After discussions at the committee meeting, members have agreed on actions that will have a postive impact on staff's workload, and therefore wellbeing.

Check back soon to see what the wellbeing committee have implemented across school.
